This large Asset Manager, based in the Emirates, has strong commitment to leveraging market innovations in technology and data to deliver high-quality returns.  They want to crack the hardest challenges in systematic investing and they're seeking (all levels) scientific minds, those with a passion for rigorous research, those with exceptional skills in technology and development, and those who approach problem solving with curiosity and persistence.  To that end, they now seek a senior Data Quant Developer for their Data Curation team who conduct: mapping, dataset creation for financial markets investing & trading groups.   

You will need very strong, hands-on experience of developing of Data applications.  (No specific platform, just general stitching Data together using pipelining tools, transforming data, designing for scalability)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage vendors and data trials
  
• Catalogue, onboard & ingest raw data and assess data quality
• Structure frozen and live datasets for statistical analysis and production
• Work collaboratively in research and/or production squads to implement research prototypes and production applications
• Standardize and map symbologies across datasets from various vendors
  
• Building interactive dashboard or data API to explore/analyze data and insights
• Proprietary Dataset Creation. Proficiency in building custom in-house datasets or refining alternative data
• Automated Data Evaluation (not data monitoring). Automatic assessment of data value for investment purposes

KEY SKILLS:

• Strong, hands-on experience of developing of Data applications (Palantir Foundry platform)
• Extensive experience with modelling and querying timeseries Datasets (> billions of data points)
  
• Expertise in extracting, cleaning, and structuring data from a mess data, including PDFs, text documents, irregular JSON, websites
• Excellent Python, analytical SQL, PostgreSQL / SQL Server, Adept at Pyspark, Python , advanced analytical SQL, window functions. 
• PostgreSQL / SQL Server / Oracle 
• Exposure to docker and containerization.
  
• A good Masters in a scientific discipline will be essential
• NB. Investment experience (Hedge Fund or Asset Manager useful but not required and not essential
